Recruiting participants for Round Tables on regenerative business & public policy

Hey lovely WeAll Hub people,

In collaboration with WeAll I am currently writing my master thesis on “How can public policies foster regenerative business design?” and would love your participation in it.
My thesis is transdisciplinary, so I am organising three expert round tables where practitioners, academics and thought leaders can discuss this topic and co-design possible solutions and pathways.

And here comes my call: I am currently still in the recruitment phase and would be super excited if there are some people here who feel called by the topic and would like to participate.

The dates and times (CEST) are as follows. You can join one or more events and it is all online via Zoom.

  1. Round Table 9 April: 11.30-13
  2. Round Table 30 April: 14:30 - 16:00
  3. Round Table 28 May: 14 - 15:30

If you’re unavailable but would still like to contribute we can also arrange an interview. Your background can be super versatile, ideally you have some experience in mission-led businesses or in the policy or academic field. If you are unsure, please reach out.
The knowledge out of my research will help shape some new modules in the Wellbeing Economy Policy Design Course

For any questions I am available, just comment or send a message to me.

Many thanks already,
Anna

Hi, Anna. I’ve been researching Regenerative Business over the last two years.
From what I’ve seen, public policies have had little impact, although I haven’t looked at policymakers as a significant influence to date. Maybe I’m missing something.

It seems to me that the founders of such businesses are the main drivers through their philosophies and values. This is certainly true of Zoho Corporation ( whose leaders inspired me to research this area) and Jaipur Rugs. I’ve written about both companies - Regenerative Research Findings

Impact Investors like Acumen put their money where their mouths are.

Other influencer organisations worth a look at are Capital Institute.

I’m glad to see WEALL at last taking an interest in this field.

All the best

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
Wow thanks so much for your thoughts and these super helpful links, very much appreciated.

I agree, that sometimes it can feel like the impact of public policies is little, that’s also one of the reasons why I am trying to advance the topic academically, as currently there is little academic research on it. However, there are two reports which are sparking hope and are interesting for me: DEAL developed a very tangible tool on which steps policy makers can take (and I will try to build onto that). And this Whitepaper on Sustainable by design highlights an interesting aspect, namely competitiveness through regenerative business.

Thank you also for all the articles you published on the topic as well, super useful!

Best,
Anna

Hello Anna!

As someone who’s working on her Master’s thesis around understanding the role of workplaces in contributing to a socio-ecological transformation, it is truly refreshing to see someone working along similar lines!

Although, I am no expert and may not be very useful at this stage for your current requirements, I would definitely be open to connecting with you and possibly exchanging ideas. (P.S. this is my preliminary attempt at networking with like-minded people… :see_no_evil_monkey::sweat_smile:)

If you’re up for a brief chat/email exchanges - I’m available at murthyabhirami@gmail.com
