Hello dear WEAll community,
I wanted to update everyone on the progress of a project that I worked on with my local community and that I presented at a WEAll members call last fall, that hopes to provide a tangible means of bringing people together and reducing material use of children’s clothing.
After getting encouraging feedback from a test that I did with my daughter’s school, I went ahead and created the system: Clothes Friends, a matchmaking service that connects local families so outgrown clothes can be reused.
It works by pairing nearby families who have kids that are two sizes up or down, so they can have someone to get clothes from or give clothes to. For people struggling economically, this could be a massive help to have good wearable clothes given to them every 6 months, and people who donate can feel good that their outgrown clothes will actually be worn again. If this normalises, we will keep so many clothes out of landfills and help improve the wellbeing of families.
The system works anywhere in the world, and for the month of March it is totally free. After that there is a one-time fee when a family is matched.
If you’d like to share it with the families you know so they can have it for free, they can find it at:
Thanks for sharing! And for all of the support - I cherish this community <3
