What happens when a mining empire meets the radical idea of shared ownership?
Join the WEAll community for a special watch party and conversation featuring the bold new TV series $HARE by Zenka Films.Next Wednesday, 25th March at 4.00 pm UTC ![]()
Executive produced by Golden Globe winner Rhea Seehorn, $HARE follows Lena Corbyn, who unexpectedly inherits shares in her family’s mining empire. Instead of protecting the status quo, Lena proposes something radical: employee ownership and a more just economic model. Her vision sparks fierce resistance from her sister and niece, who will stop at nothing to maintain control.
The result is a gripping drama about power, inheritance, and what it really takes to change systems from within.
But $HARE doesn’t just challenge economic systems on screen. The production itself experiments with a different way of making film.
Zenka Films built the series around a values-driven production manifesto, including:
• Equal pay and transparent salaries for the entire team
• Fair wages and collaborative decision making
• Green production practices, from train travel to shared electric cars
• Minimalist set design using thrifted and local materials
• Costume reuse and circular sourcing
• A commitment to female driven storytelling, with compelling lead roles for women 50+
In other words, they asked a powerful question:
If the story is about transforming the economy, shouldn’t the way we make the story do the same?
